Root Your Galaxy Y Young

1.) First enable Unknown Sources on your phone (Settings -> Applications -> Unknown sources).

2.) Download needed file (Universal_GB_ROOT_v9.zip) - Click here to download

3.) Create a folder in your SD card named Applications

4.) Transfer the .zip file to the Applications folder you just created.

5.) Now turn off your phone

6.) Switch on your device in the recovery mode (hold power, volume up, and home button together). Plase note that you cannot use the touch screen while in recovery mode, so for up/down use volume up/down and to select an option press the home button.

7.) Once you started in Recovery Mode, you should see a few options, look for and select "apply update from sd card"

8.) It will take you to your sd card directory. Go into the folder Applications you created earlier and look for Universal_GB_ROOT_v9.zip and select it.

9.) Wait a few seconds, a lot of text will show up with some information and finally at the bottom it should say that update was successful.

10.) It will take you back to menu. Then select "reboot phone now".

11.) After you reboot, look for Superuser in some of your pages. If you have it, you rooted! Congrats!

I do not take any responsibility if anything goes wrong with your phone (chances of that happening are very low). Do this at your own risk!

NOTE: Rooting will void your warranty!
